Superman would be disappointed

Americans are fascinated with super heroes. Superman is one of the especially American all-time greats. Generations grew up on Superman in comics and on TV; and thanks to movie remakes about every decade all generations have been exposed to Superman.

Beyond super powers, Superman is particularly beloved because he embodied America when America was good. Everyone knew and was proud that Superman fought for “truth, justice, and the American way!”

Who even talks like that anymore? Tragically, truth and justice have nothing to do with the American way anymore if even an American way still exists.

Truth is an obsolete concept. Media and politicians create a desired narrative and then say whatever it takes to sell it. Not even cherry picking anymore, they will make up what they need out of thin air. They brazenly lie because there is nobody to hold them accountable. That nobody is we the people.

We the people either don’t pay attention or we tolerate the dishonesty when it’s our team cheating or our party lying. Ethics have succumbed to partisanship. Hillary Clinton’s Congressional Benghazi testimony confirmed truth is dead in America.

Smugly reaffirming her lies for hours, Clinton was widely praised for her poised prevarications. Everyone knows the esoteric video had NOTHING to do with the attack in Benghazi. Mountains of evidence show all in government immediately knew it was a terrorist attack, but that would not fit the 2012 re-election narrative.

So, they lied! There was and is no consequence. No charges. No media exposé. Some got promoted; some got fired for not swearing to the lie. Four brave Americans were left to die, but as Hillary said “What difference at this point does it make?!” Obama got reelected and Clinton thinks she is on her way to coronation. That matters more than any truth or even American lives.

Justice has also been cast aside. Illegal immigrants prey on our citizens and even if they do get deported, they are allowed right back in. Some drug and immigration laws can be violated with impunity, but popularly voted laws about the sanctity of marriage will be voided by a renegade extra-Constitutional cabal.

The Department of Justice decision to not prosecute Lois Lerner or anyone at IRS puts into stark relief how America has become a lawless nation. When laws are no longer equally applied, there is no justice. Americans should shiver with fear knowing our government literally and arbitrarily picks who will and will not be subject to the law – that’s totalitarian tyranny.

Utterly obsessed with diversity, we have every possible “way” based on group identity, but whatever is left of the ideology of the American way is derided as racist and unfair. The idea of liberty that used to unite people of any origin has been abandoned.

The American way has become how the federal government can trick and swindle the people. John Boehner’s swan song is to trick Americans with a budget deal that suspends the national debt and enshrines Obama’s profligate spending, so that neither party has to deal with debt or spending in the next election. Disgusting!

Mitt Romney oddly lamented “the demise of legacy media because it empowered ‘conservative insurgents’ which prevents collaboration in Washington.” In other words, he misses the monolithic media when one lie could fool everybody. Ironically, the alternate media and ‘conservative insurgents’ do not seem to have impeded any of Boehner’s and Obama’s scams.

Superman cannot save us. America needs super citizens who know and love the Constitution and sincerely believe truth, justice, and the American way are more important than any partisan power plays. If we the people truly believe it, we will hold our government and our parties accountable or change them!

“And I will declare my judgments against them, for all their evil in forsaking me. They have made offerings to other gods and worshiped the works of their own hands.” Jeremiah 1:16
